Prior to removal, the Mvskokvlke was made up of several tribes that occupied the current Southeast United States of America. During this time, Free Blacks adapted to these Mvskoke communities and lived with the Mvskoke people, learning the Mvskoke language, culture and ceremonies.
During the Indian Removal Act of 1830, and under the presidency of Andrew Jackson, the tribes were forced West. The Free Blacks went along with the tribes, as they were not citizens of the United States at this time.
